I have to admit that I knew nothing about superannuation before I started working for a financial planner. No one ever told me the advantage of looking after and growing your super and how, with the right advice, you can plan to have enough money for the things you need and want in your retirement!
But I’m not the only one, and after speaking with some of my friends, have learnt that they also have no idea! I have encouraged them to come in and speak with Peter, Jay or Ben – but as much as I want to, I know I can’t force them; how does that proverb go? ‘Can lead a horse to water but can’t make it drink’. But they need to drink!
I know first-hand that as we get older we all worry about our retirement and how we are going to manage… but we need to be strong, and not be embarrassed to see a financial planner, because they can help us have the retirement we deserve. And I should know – I’ve seen many very, very happy clients.
