Recently I had someone contact the Office, unhappy with their current Super funds performance and fees. This is not an usual occurrence; many of our new clients reason to come onboard with us because of what they feel is a lack of Super fund performance or funds being ‘eaten up’ by fees.
In this case though, I have to admit I was frustrated. Frustrated because I have been in contact with this person for over six years and instead of making the decision to have a discussion with a planner and review his situation, his funds, his current needs and goals back then when I offered him the opportunity, he has left his situation stagnant for those six years. He didn’t review his fund, the fees, his investment options or his potential to move to other providers. I’m not saying he was wrong or right to leave his fund as it was the whole time – but in doing nothing at all he will never know what his options would or could have ever even been.
And neither will we. At Burke Britton our goal is to offer assistance and support – where it is both wanted AND needed. We LOVE our clients who want to make a change for the better.
This doesn’t apply just to Super funds – I see this with clients and their insurance levels, their investing, their retirement plans, their estate plans and so on. I know it’s a massive cliché, but leaving it “too little too late” could be a mistake you come to regret in years to come….
